Homemade Ice Cream

While my parents were here visiting we made homemade ice cream for the first time with Hannah. Needless to say she really enjoyed the final product. It was chocolate and it was goooooood!

Growin' Maters

Doug and Hannah have been working hard all spring and summer to grow tomatoes. We are all enjoying the "fruits of their labor" so to speak...stop it, Beth. No, really, stop.

A Dress Fit for a Queen

Hannah's grandma made her a very special birthday present - a Snow White Dress! She loves it and will probably wear it for Halloween since it is much too nice to have as a regular play dress. Silly grandma! : )

The Poofect Storm

I took the two girls to lunch with two of my friends at Mimi's Friday and we had a great time. Hannah and Paige were pretty well behaved and thanks to my friend Courtnay I got to eat my lunch as she helped Hannah eat hers. After we ate we took some pictures of the kids and chatted for a few minutes. Just as things were wrapping up and I thought to myself "We made it" Courtnay said "What's this?". She had been holding sweet little Paige and when she lifted her up we all gasped. Paige had pooped all over herself and Court, but honestly Court got the worst of it. My memories after that point are blurry as embarrassment took over and I started to panic. All three women started wiping and Hannah "helped" too by spreading poop all over Paige's back with her napkin.

I ran to the bathroom with Paige, leaving Courtnay and Rachel with my toddler and a mess. Thank goodness Rachel came prepared with wipes and a plastic garbage bag. When I reached the bathroom an old woman announced "Looks like somebody pooped their pants". Really? I hadn't noticed.

I laid Paige down on the changing table and as soon as I removed the old diaper she peed all over herself. Nice. When I returned to the table Courtnay let me know that Hannah had announced she needed to go potty. So back to the bathroom I went for round two which was thankfully a lot less messy. When we returned, Courtnay, who had been watching over a now naked Paige, helped us to the car and we left. Of course Paige fell asleep on the way home exhausted from the lunchtime festivities.

Big Dipper, Little Dipper

Thanks to Jodi (for the outfits) and Doug (for taking the pictures), we have some shots of our two girls that make me smile.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me!

I blame BJ's for using their fancy retailing tricks on me, but whomever is to blame we have purchased a new inflatable pool for Hannah to use this summer. We tested it out with her friends Danny and Derek and it was a big hit! I'll let you see for yourself...

Here is little Paige in the middle of her morning workout. She's getting so big and strong! They're not kidding when they say milk does a body good.

4th of July Fun

We went to Southport, NC to spend the 4th of July with Doug's mom and dad. Hannah came down on June 28th to spend some time with grandma and grandpa while Doug and I got some things done around the house. She had a great time going to the pool, going to the beach, and playing princesses with grandpa. : )

We enjoyed some lovely weather and the downtown festivities of Southport as well as the beach and a ride in Mike and Cindi's boat. We opened Hannah's birthday presents on the 4th and enjoyed a delicious breakfast courtesy of Mike. Hope you all had a great 4th. We sure did!

Here's Hannah's rendition of Yankee Doodle...there is a lot of background noise.

Hannah turns 3!

Hannah celebrated her 3rd birthday on June 27th at Marbles Kids Museum. It was a coloring party with lots of crayons and stickers. The kids had a great time drawing silly faces, tracing their hands and feet, and even coloring a life-sized Hannah! The kids went "fishing" for prizes too.

Our friend Todd made an amazing cake for Hannah that looked just like a box of crayons. Cathie helped us decorate before the party since we only had minutes to get set up. And Jodi took some great pictures for us since we were busy keeping the party going. Thanks guys we really appreciated your help!

After we stuffed ourselves with lunch, cake, and ice cream, we ran all over the Kids Museum and wore ourselves out! Both girls took a LONG nap when we got home. Thanks to Mike and Cindi for watching the girls throughout the party while we played host and hostess. And thanks to everyone that made the trip to Marbles to celebrate with us. You made our little girl's day so special. We are lucky to have such great friends!
