Turkey Day

We traveled to Southport to be with Doug's parents for Thanksgiving this year.  We had a lovely meal at their club and a fun weekend of golf, cocoa, shopping, swimming, and s'mores.  For this, and everything else that makes our lives so full, we are truly thankful.

Tweetsie, What a Tweet!

Our kids LOVE going to Tweetsie Railroad! I don't know if it's the trains, the rides, or what, but we always have a great time taking them. This year my parents came too and we all had a really fun day there.

Meeting in the Mountains

During Hannah's fall break we drove to the mountains to meet my parents for my dad's 70th birthday. We stayed in a wonderful log cabin and took in the lovely fall foliage. While we were there we visited Mystery Hill, spent a day at Tweetsie Railroad, went mining for gems, and picnicked at Grandfather mountain. It was a great trip. Shown below are pictures from Mystery Hill and the birthday celebration (complete with a lawn-mowing cake). The next few posts will give you more details about the trip (and pictures)!

A Spooktacular Halloween

We enjoyed a week of Halloween celebrations this year. We threw a small party at our house for friends, Paige had a Halloween Parade at school, and then of course there was trick-or-treat! Hannah was a duck and Paige was a chicken (you'll see their costumes were pretty similar). Although it was a chilly night, there was no rain (like last year - yuck!) and the low temperatures were a help to the girls because their costumes were so hot. Everyone had a very fun time and the girls got over 100 pieces of candy each (Hannah counted)!
