June Stories

It's been a log time since the last post so we have a lot to cover...like the whole month of June!

Skoolz Out!
The girls had their end of the year parties at the end of May. Paige's party brought back memories of Hannah's first year of Mother's Morning Out. I can't believe she'll be in kindergarten soon.


Soccer Awards
We had our last soccer game for the spring season on June 4th. The season was extended by several weeks due to many rained out games in the beginning of the season. Hannah had a great time playing and Doug had just as much fun coaching. She's already signed up for the fall season that starts in October!


First Haircut!
Paige had her first haircut on June 4th. Daddy took her to Miss Cindy (she cuts daddy and Hannah's hair too) for a cut 'n style. There were no tears and she got a BIG lollipop from Cindy when it was all over. Another milestone!


Swim Lessons
Hannah had two weeks of swim lessons in June and her confidence at the pool has increased dramatically!


So You Think You Can Dance?
Yes! Hannah had her ballet and tap recital on June 18th at the Talley Student Center on the NC State campus. Mike and Cindi stayed an extra day after Doug and I got back from the cruise to attend too. Hannah's class performed two numbers, one ballet and one tap. Hannah and all the girls did a wonderful job!

Sprinkler Fun!

Paige got a new sprinkler for her birthday from cousin Abigail and a new swimsuit! We decided to try both out last weekend and have some fun in the sun. Things didn't go quite as we had planned...

At first, Paige was a little afraid...
Then she got squirted in the eye...
But she decided to face her fears and inched closer, and closer...
Hannah kept showing her how much fun it was...
And in the end, Daddy and Paige ran through it together!

Summer Birthday Party

Hannah and all of the kids who have summer birthdays got to have a pizza party at school so they wouldn't feel left out of the birthday celebrations. It was quite an event and Hannah loved being the center of attention. Parents were invited to come for the pizza lunch and treats. One of the moms made "cake pops" - my new favorite dessert!

Mother's Day 2011

What a treat for Mother's Day this year! There was a Mother's Day Tea at Hannah's school where we had muffins made by the kids. Then on the actual day, Doug and the kids took me to brunch and gave me some beautiful flowers. How thoughtful!

The Family Band

During Hannah's spring break she got to tag along to one of Paige's music classes. They had a blast together. Of course it was monkey see monkey do most of the time, but that's nothing new.

A Berry Fun Birthday

At the end of April we went to the strawberry patch to celebrate Paige's birthday. By waiting a bit we were able to include Grandpa, Darlin, and cousin Abigail in the fun. We went down the slides, climbed the hay mountain, played in the corn pit, and rode on/in the big tube swing. Next we all got rides on the cow train (a big hit with young and old alike). Then we piled on a hayride that took us to a private part of the berry patch and picked a basket of berries. After that it was back to the picnic shelter for cake and ice cream! We sure had a great time with family and friends.
